How Great Thou Art

I received the Lord as my Savior when I was 15 years old.  I realized nothing I could do for myself would get me to heaven after death...
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;  not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."

I thank the Lord every day for bestowing upon me renewed grace.  I certainly don't deserve it, but I am thankful.  I offend Him every day, yet I am a child of the King and I belong to him...and heir to the throne of God.  How amazing is that?  This time of year I reflect on exactly what my Lord when through to save me and I am thankful it is His free gift.

I love this song...if you have a moment, listen...

and I love the lyrics to "How Great Thou Art"

How Great Thou Art

Lyrics ~ Carl Boberg, 1859 - 1940
English Translation ~ Stuart K. Hine, 1899 - 1989

O Lord my God,
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all
The world Thy Hand hath made,
I see the stars,
I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy pow'r throughout
The universe displayed;

Chorus

Then sings my soul,
My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art!
How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art!
How great Thou art!

Stanza 3:
And when I think,
That God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die,
I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross,
My burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died
To take away my sin
.

Chorus

Stanza 3:

When Christ shall come,
With shouts of acclamation,
And take me home,
What joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim,
"My God, how great Thou art!"

Because our Lord rose from the grave, we can receive his free gift.  We can become heirs to the throne.  I am thankful beyond words.  As we begin our celebration of life that God gave us this weekend, let us remember and give thanks unto the Lord!  He is RISEN INDEED!!!

  1. Yep, a wonderful song. We sung this at my mom's funeral. So good to meditate on.
